A once drug lord, murderer, and extortionist becomes a Christian and leads a ministry inside one of the most dangerous prisons in Peru. This is a story of redemption and healing. And how the actions of one can transform an entire community! Most of this project was shot on a gimbal with a Sony A7Sii. It was perhaps one of the most impactful and beautiful projects I’ve ever worked on. Some of the challenges were being in an extremely dangerous area with expensive equipment. I had 2-3 people always walking with me while filming. Especially near the prison. Talking to…
This video was a testimony that we played during our Easter service in 2021. This was shot on a Blackmagic Pocket cinema 4K camera in one of the classrooms of our building. To get the film look, I hazed the room and used a source four par light as backlight. Another technique I used was having black bars crawl in on the top and bottom of the frame to give the video a cinema look and also help draw the audience into the story. One challenge I encountered was keeping the backlight from falling onto the subject and I used…
In August, 2020, we had a series of services around the theme of connecting with God through his creation as a way of re-creating ourselves. This film was part of that series and featured a church member named Karl who finds that reconnection out on the ocean in his surf-ski. This was a lot of fun to produce and involved spending the day with Karl at a beach near the Maryland Bay Bridge. I used a drone (borrowed from the church sexton), a GoPro (for the POV boat footage) and my Sony A6600. I wanted to capture the audio of…
This was a true story about the Eufemia and Coucci family. With normal struggles that most people would go through in life they found that Jesus was the only person who could help them through it. We used Sony FS7 II, Sony A7III, ikan Studio lights, Sony G 2.8 24-70, Sony G 4 18-110, Feelworld 4k 7 inch monitor, Manfrotto tripod and Adobe Premiere Pro. Techniqoes: lens flares, 2 camera interview with close profile shot. Challenges were location and lighting.
This project tells the story of the inception of our first regional campus. It was made in honor of that campus’ 10th anniversary. It was difficult tracking down photos/videos from the last 10 years to rely on for B Roll. This project was shot on Canon C100 and lit with Arri tungsten lights.
The story of how one member who was experiencing relational loss was able to find community in the church. This story was shot on Sony FS5 and Sony A7sii and lit with Arri tungsten lights. The biggest challenge was conveying personal details about his story while still trying to be sensitive to his situation.
This was a story piece highlighting racial unity in our church. It was shot on Sony A7sii and lit with Arri tungsten lights. The most challenging part of this project was condensing his story down. There was so much good content, it was hard to leave parts out.
“Being incarcerated was one of the biggest blessings of my entire life.” These are the first words Darby said to me as we sat for coffee the first time I met Darby. We spent almost 2 hours at the coffee shop listening to Darby pour out his entire life story. Now how do you condense that into a 3min video? Darby spent 13 years in prison, and met Jesus in prison after being given a bible. The power of the cross is what Darby needed in his life to just make it another day. God has been at work in…
This is a testimony video from two of our congregants and how God completely restored a seemingly lost situation! This video was on a time crunch and required a lot of extra man-hours, a hike into the woods, and plenty of editing!
