LYFE X Opener 2021

Brittany filmed this using Canon Rebel T5 and edited using Final Cut Pro. All actors were students from the LYFE Youth Group at Life Church.

Spiritual Blindness vs. Clarity

This was mostly created by stock footage on Getty’s, music by first com, we created the storyline and original voice over. The challengers were trying to keep the attention of the viewer with the chosen graphics as well as choosing the music. So it didn’t over power the voiceover. The goal was to give a fresh modern millennium feel.

Best Series Starter 2021

“My Secret Life”

For this video promoting our series “My Secret Life,” we were aiming for a suspense/thriller vibe. We storyboarded the sequence and then scouted for locations. The house we found was absolutely perfect and provided a great aesthetic to base our look on. We wanted the scene to take place at night, so we blacked out all the windows, added curtain sheers, and placed small lights outside to simulate moonlight. We gelled the under-cabinet kitchen lights to get a nice greenish-yellow tint to them and then supplemented that lighting with our Titan Tubes, aputure lights, and some tungsten practicals. For the staircase shots, we also utilized a steadicam to add some energy into that moment. The final shot of the piece was filmed in a large space that we constructed a doorway in to match our other location, and then we blasted light from behind to create the elongated shadow that would match our end graphic.

Anchor

This video was a testimony that we played during our Easter service in 2021. This was shot on a Blackmagic Pocket cinema 4K camera in one of the classrooms of our building. To get the film look, I hazed the room and used a source four par light as backlight. Another technique I used was having black bars crawl in on the top and bottom of the frame to give the video a cinema look and also help draw the audience into the story. One challenge I encountered was keeping the backlight from falling onto the subject and I used multiple sandbags to anchor the light stand.

The Creed

Intro for message series based on the Apostle’s Creed.

Parables

This is a short, modern rendition of the parable of the prodigal son that was used as a sermon bumper. This project was shot on a Canon C100. We shot the whole video on our church property, so it was difficult finding spots to make it look different and as if he was traveling.

Lessons on the Road

What are the lessons you learn on the road? That was the inspiration for this series starter. We really just wanted to give the audience a minute just to reflect, and to step back and take a 30,000ft view of their life.

This was majority stock footage mixed in with footage from a local drone pilot from Nashville Tennessee.

The Gospel and Politics

This video was sermon bumper for the series “We are the Church”. This video aired right in the middle of time of conflict and injustice in our country. The goal was just to remind our congregation that Jesus is still on the throne, and will always be on the throne. That was the only message we wanted to share in a time of such uncertainty.

Outflow | Sermon Series Bumper

Our church did sermon series called Outflow. As soon as we heard the name of the series, we knew this was our opportunity to buy a fish tank, half and half, and more food coloring that you would need in your entire lifetime.

This was a very fun shoot. It took about 20 takes and each take required emptying a 10 gallon fish tank with a shop vac and cleaning the glass to keep the glass as clear as possible. It was quite a lot of physical work condensed into a 30 second video, but we were very pleased with the outcome.

We shot on the highest frame rate camera we could find in Nashville, the Red Raven shot at 240fps.
