This was a wonderful last minute shoot. We shot late Tuesday evening and started editing on Thursday/Friday for Sunday. It was tight but the story was well received. Shot on BM 6k Pocket, Canon 24mm L. 3 points lighting using Aputure 600x w/light dome as key. Sennheiser mic.
Unseen | Times Square Church
This story was written by my coworker and myself, based on our own experiences with mental health and our faith journey. He directed and I was the cinematographer for this film. We rented a RED Komodo and an ultrawide Zeiss 10mm cinema lens from the 60’s. We used this combination for a lot of the intense mental health moments of the film to bring their feelings of anxiety and depression to life. We also shot with some Zeiss Contax photography lenses from the 80’s for all the non-wide angle shots. For lighting, we had a kit of ARRI Orbiters and Sky Panels, so dialing in our light was streamlined and stress free. We only had 6 days to film all over NYC, so it was a mad rush at times to get everything we needed.

Three guys used a favor to fly out to California to shoot the abandoned Lake Dolores Waterpark in Newberry Springs. Our Pastor’s vision for the sermon series was always an abandoned theme park, and we were not able to get into Jazzland New Orleans for a multitude of reasons. We flew two large pelicans with some C-stands, gaffer gear, and a gimbal, and carried on a Canon R5C and C200 with EF 16-35mm 2.8, 85mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, Sigma 70-200 2.8. We arrived at the site with rain, not exactly knowing what it was supposed to look like, but knowing that when we got there it would all take shape. The rain held off for a while and it turned into a very guerilla-esque shoot. The graphics package for the series are from our member/graphic designer on retainer, the voiceover, edit, grade, score, were all in house. Our worship team wrote an original for the series, which is available to stream as well.

Jesus Changed My Life – God Story Easter 2024 | Calvary Church
The turnaround for this was about a week. My pastor decided he wanted some sort of Jesus changed my story video for his sermon for easter and so I found a few people to come in last minute and share a bit of their story. I used a CanonR6, GVM 800d-RGB and an Aputure 300DII, DJI wireless Mic.
Calvary Worship – House of the Lord | Calvary Church
We recorded this at one of our church sites. I loved the stained glass windows in this building and we found people from our congregations who love to worship to just be in the background worshipping to make the video feel fuller. We used several Canon R and an R6 to record this. A couple Aputure 300dII and natural lighting. Allen and Heath SQ5. Special techniques?… A Chair with wheels to capture the opening shot.
